Easy in Aquitaine: Gardening in south west France

Despite lying within a temperate climate zone, south west France frequently experiences summer drought and significant winter cold. Many plants commonly used here can cope with one, but not both, of these conditions. Some plants from Mediterranean-type climate zones will not thrive, while some may succeed only too well and try to take over your garden. Many of the stalwarts used in the UK do not adapt well and some of the ‘new’ North American prairie plants need more moisture than is readily available. Use this workshop to ensure that your plant purchases survive and learn how to adjust your soils and garden management to reduce maintenance.
