Changing fashions - an introduction to garden history

The first gardens were developed over 4000 years ago. Styles may have changes but garden eements remain remakably similar. In a well illustrated presentation we look at examples from many periods: from ancient enclosed Persian gardens, through the gardens of the Alhambra in Granada, to the patio gardens of the Mediterranean. From French formality we travel through Dutch fusion, Italian frivolity and English landscape gardens; then forward to the Arts and Crafts gardens of England in the early 20th century, American Modernist gardens and recent naturalistic styles of prairie and wildlife gardening.
